Dream On

Had a change in schedule yesterday, so my sleep schedule was off. Well it is always off but i was able to get more than usual last night. I took a three hour nap, woke at 2300 for a meeting, then read until 2am. I kept waking up because I had guard at 0500, and one time around 0330 I rolled over on my back. For some reason sleeping on my back makes things weird sometimes. I had laid there maybe five minutes when I heard my roommate talking in his sleep. He was clearly repeating what our Platoon SGT had told him earlier in the day, and mumbling what I assume his responses had been (I wasn't there for the original conversation, but heard details from Plt Sgt and others). Basically just another shifty detail (which we are good at) but with higher approval this time. Anyway he got angry or something, threw a pillow off his bed, then threw one over towards me. I tried to say "What the fuck?" but couldn't get the words out. after two tries, I finally woke up and said it out loud. My first clue should have been that he only has one pillow.

Those who learn from history are doomed to want to change it.

Two out of three Iraqi police don't like girl scout macaroons. (Based on an interview of the three working with me when a guy in a forklift gave us each a box. I let them taste one from my box, cuz they seemed reluctant to open theirs (open box lowers resale value). Chance of error 99%)

Prayers for safety in travel for those rotating out here over the next month.

Thats so F'n cool that you saw the Hubble. This gets me thinking about the other day.
I was staring at something here in Blacksburg, VA at the Va Tech Duck Pond when I was having a smoke and staring up out of the sky when something got my attention. It wasnt a palne or other aircraft, or anything like that. I was watching for 10 minutes, maybe 20...and I seriously wondered if it a sattelite. The sun was setting, but it was still very light outside. It wasnt a star, and it definitely wasnt a planet. It was too bright in the day light, but it also didnt emit its own light like a star....wonder if thats what it was ..That was Sunday early evening. What did it look like and how did you know?

Anyway, came here by way of husband (91) And This is great. I really enjoy reading your posts. Im linking you friend.

Funny dream!! I was believing it until you woke up :D I hate those dreams where you try to say something and it won't come out. I also have weird dreams like that when I sleep on my back.

My name is Madtom and this is my first blog.
There are a lot of blogs out there and I want to make this one a little different. I will post what I see out there or link to news or other blogs that bring news from the front lines.
Once I figure out how, I want to put up a picture in the title of the Norman Rockwell painting "NEWS FROM THE FRONT". Like the characters in that painting we are all eager to hear news from the front.

The thing that I want to do different with this blog, is that I want to post stories from the point of view of all the different characters that make up this war. I want to post stories from G.I.Joe, and from his enemy and from the point of view of their families. The idea is for anyone, be they friend or foe that has something to say, a story to tell, about this, or any war, can send it to me and I will post it here, anonymously.

I am doing this so that the public at large can get an idea of what is going on in this war, and for those doing the fighting can have their stories told. I want to try to do it from all sides. The good the bad and the ugly.
So if you have a story that you think needs to be told, and you want a forum to tell your story then e-mail them to me at thisfckingwar@yahoo.com
Read it all at thisfuckingwar.blogspot.com

There is only a few rules, it has to be good, about a war and anonymous.

One thing I learned during my deployments was that it's possible to keep the body awake, but keeping the mind awake is much more difficult. The mind needs at LEAST a few cat naps here and there.

Here's hoping the terrorists don't get any sleep tonight.
